My Daddy's a Fireman
They are seldom named in poems, though we have charm and poise. Firemen never seem to have girls; its always boys boys boys! Well, my daddy's a fireman, and I am proud as I can be, while my name is not tommy or billy, he loves me cause I am me. He needs both me and mommy to remind him of things to do like going to church on sunday and emptying the garbage too. Once he took me wiht him to the fire hosue down town. I sat in teh big red engine and pushing the siren down. At times I like to fool him; make him believe that i am asleep at night he's whisper "Nite-nite my little angle, don't let the bed bugs bite." please don't tell anyone this but I once saw my daddy cry, he fough a real big fire and told mommy he saw someone die, Why he fights these fire, I guess i am too young to know, he's always helping poeple... and that why i love him so, the reson why I wrote this poem is to explain the best that i can, Girls just like boys can say with pride My Daddy's a Fireman
A Firefighter Poem
He stares in the face of death without a second though to save that one special life that he so bravely sought. He has walked as close to "Hell on Earth". As any man could do and he's so proud of the job he did for people he never knew. He puts his life ont he line every time duty calls. Always doing what needs to be done without a pause. He is a firefighter. With over whelming pride, never afraid to take chances when saving someones life. Often he says "It's my job." But we really know hat he is very special and always reald to go. So when you hear the sirens wail or see flashing lights stand aside and look with pride He's going to save a life.
The Volunteer Fireman
The Volunteer firemen are a breed unto them selves.
Whoever heard of a man who is willing to be on twenty-four hour duty without pay for the dubious privilege of protecting his neighbors property.
Whoever heard of a man who is willing to dash from his desk and ride a "fire wagon" to the scene of the alarm ruining his suit, neglecting his business, risking his life and exhausting himself physically, not for money be because he believes in serving his community.
Whoever heard of a man who will give you his favorite TV show, post-pone some reading or "do-it-yourself" home chores he's been planning(plus sacrifing his evening with his wife and children.) just to attend meetings where he learns how to function as a voluntter servant in behlaf of his fellow men.
Whoever ( in day and age) heard of a man who is crazy enough to be worrying about the other fellows.
Well if you don't know that answer to those questions look around out fire house.
You'll see peoples fore-fathers were made of the smae stuff.
You'll see people who arn't out protesting, demonstrating, complaning becuase they're too busy living up to the image of a good American. You'ss see people just like yourself who cares what happens to their neightbors, their community, and their country.

What is A Fireman?
He is the guy next-door, A man's man with the memory of a little boy. He has never got over the excitement of engines and sirens and danger. He is a person like you and me with wants, worries and unfulfilled dreams. Yet he stands taller than most of us. He is a fireman. He puts it All on the line when the bell rings. A fireman's at once the most fortunate and least fortunate of men. He is a man who saves life because he has seen too much death. He is a gentle man because he has seen the awesome power of violence out of control. He responds to a child's laughter because his arms have held too many small bodies that will never laughter again. He is a man who appreciates the simple pleases of life like- hot coffee held in numb unbending fingers, a warm bed for bones and muscles completely beyon feeling. The camaraderie's of brave men- The divine peace and selfless to service a job well done in the name of all men. He doesn't wear buttons or waves flags or shout obscenities when he marches, it's to honor a fallen comrade. He doesn't preach the brotherhood of man. he lives it.

Firefighter does not only sit on their asses
How many of you do you think firefighters does nothing but sit on their asses and do nothing.Well I would like to clear that up. I am a firefighter. I don't just sit on my up and do nothing. there are times that we do nothing but there are times that we don't have a chance to sit down and do nothing. We are not able to know if we will have nothing to do. There are people that would just say we are lazy and does not care about the people who we have to protect but that is not true. We care about the community we care about everyone and will do your very best to protect and serve our county or if we are called apone out country. In greenup county there were about 50-100 firefighter to stop what they were doing to drove to ground zero to help fight fires or help in a search and rescue. Every time September 11 comes to any firefighters head they always remembers 343 fellow brothers and sisters that gave their lives to try to save someone. With firefighters we don't think of our self before we act or before we go into a fire we think of the people who might be trapped inside. We think what they might be thinking and it could be that they could be taking their last breath or wishing that they had someone to get them out of the stop they are in. Well firefighter are not lazy because if you remember every firefighter all over New York responded to the site when the planes it the twin towers and more than half of them lost their life's to try to keep and get everyone out so they could see their parents, their wife, their husband, or their children. People realize that we don't sit on asses every time we will go out to help an older person get their pet out of a hole or a tree. People think we just waste their tax money by driving around when we are not on a fire call just to show off out trucks but that is not true. There are times we get a call and we will not have our lights and sirens on. There are times we will turn them on when we are just going slow because the danger level might have increased or a fire or something has started or happened. We were found or created to help protect and serve out community or country and that is what we are going to do. If you want to bash or downgrade firefighter come to a scene and watch how we work. Watch whats happens when a fellow brother or sister dies in the line of duty. We dont just use the peoples tax money for gas we use it to buy equipment we need to help get people out of a car or out of a house fire. What would you say if you are the next people we will have to save would you still believe that we are just wasting your tax money on nothing. And do you still believe we just sit on our asses and do nothing. Well just wait and see if you are the next one to saved by me and my fellow brothers and sisters.
